Strain page · White Widow indica selection
The South Indian indica that went into White Widow in the early 1990s gave the strain its density, its eight-week flower and the body relaxation that follows the first cerebral rush. In every White Widow line some plants express that parent more strongly: shorter and bushier, with tighter, heavier buds, a faster finish and a second hour that settles toward calm. This seed bank’s indica selection was built from those plants over four generations, from Dutch Passion-type stock, for growers who want White Widow indica seeds — the same frosted, Cup-winning genetics, tuned for small tents, cool climates and the end of the day.

Kush Indica Seeds sells the White Widow indica selection described on this page. The button above leads to the site’s own checkout, and the operator earns from every order placed through it. Prices, delivery times and guarantee terms describe products sold by this company. Effect descriptions are drawn from user reports and are not medical findings; the legal summary is not legal advice.

White Widow is catalogued as anything from 50/50 to 60/40 indica depending on the breeder, and the balanced classic sits just on the indica side of center.
The indica selection moves further: roughly 70/30, enough to change the plant’s shape, finishing time and the second half of the effect, but not so far that the strain’s clear, euphoric onset is lost. The table gives the figures for this selection with the balanced classic noted where they differ. The grow guide covers the two things that change in practice — a shorter plant and denser buds that need drier late-flower air.

When Scott Blakey (Shantibaba) built White Widow for Green House Seeds in early-1990s Amsterdam, the indica half of the cross was a South Indian plant from the Kerala region: short, early-flowering, with the dense flower structure and the thick resin that Indian hill cultivars are known for. It was chosen to tame the Brazilian sativa — to bring the flowering time under ten weeks, keep the plant manageable indoors and add weight to the buds. It succeeded well enough that the 1995 High Times Cannabis Cup winner became the model for an indoor hybrid.
After Green House and Shantibaba’s Mr. Nice parted, the Dutch Passion Classic F1 line emerged as the most compact and uniform White Widow on the market, and American breeders working from it — Growers Choice at 60/40 indica, Seed Supreme’s “slightly indica-leaning” line — pushed further the same way. The indica selection sold here began from Dutch Passion-derived stock and was worked for four generations by keeping the shortest, densest, earliest-finishing plants whose users reported the calmest second hour, while holding resin density, mold resistance and the strain’s euphoric onset as conditions.
Three things mark an indica-leaning White Widow in the tent. The internodes are short, so buds merge into dense clubs along the branch and the main cola becomes a single heavy spear. The stretch after the flip is modest — about 1.2× — and flower finishes in seven to eight weeks, a week or two ahead of the classic. And the leaf is broad with wide fingers. The frosted trichome coat is unchanged; if anything, the denser flower makes it more visible.

Growers choose the indica selection for its second hour.
The onset is still the strain’s own — fast, euphoric, clear — but where the balanced classic eases into relaxation and the sativa selection stays lifted, the indica selection sinks into a calm that users describe as deep without being disabling. It is the White Widow for the end of the day.
Within fifteen minutes mood rises and the familiar White Widow brightness arrives; conversation and music are easy. From about forty minutes the indica component takes over: a weight settles through the shoulders and legs, tension drops, and attention turns inward. At moderate doses users remain capable of a film, a meal or a conversation; at higher doses couch-lock is common and sleep follows readily, which is why reviewers rate this selection for the last hours of the day. Duration is two to three hours, tapering into drowsiness. Dry mouth and dry eyes are routine; the anxiety that a minority of users get from sativa-leaning flower is reported less often here. Effects vary with tolerance, dose, method and how the flower was grown and cured, and reports of help with tension, discomfort, appetite or sleep are user accounts rather than medical findings.
Lab tests on the selection run 21–25% THC — the dense flower carries slightly more cannabinoid per gram than airier phenotypes — with CBD under 1% and CBG around 0.5%. Potency is at the top of the family’s 18–26% range. Taken later, at 20–30% amber trichomes, part of the THC converts to CBN and the effect becomes heavier still; the grow guide covers the choice. Growers wanting a milder plant should look at the CBD 1:1 White Widow noted in the seed types section; breeder figures are in the table below.
Myrcene — earthy, slightly musky, the terpene most associated in user reports with relaxation — leads the profile decisively in the indica selection, at around half of the total. Caryophyllene’s pepper follows; pinene’s pine, prominent in the sativa selection, sits third and gives a faint freshness over the earth. Limonene and linalool are minor. The aroma is deeper and more hash-like than the classic’s and is strong from the fourth week of flower; dense buds also hold scent longer in the jar. A carbon filter is essential indoors.

The indica selection is the easiest White Widow to fit into a small space and the fastest photoperiod version to harvest. The two things to manage are the opposite of the sativa selection’s: a plant that stays short, so veg can run longer, and buds so dense that late-flower humidity must be kept low to avoid botrytis — the one weakness this selection has that the airier phenotypes do not. The schedule runs 15–18 weeks. Temperatures are in both scales; outdoor timings assume the northern hemisphere.
Paper-towel germination — seeds between damp towels, covered, dark, 21–25 °C (70–77 °F) — gives a taproot in one to five days and is the method the guarantee requires. Sprouted seeds go root-down 1 cm deep into a small pot; photoperiod plants transplant without trouble, the autoflower version goes straight into its final pot. Seedlings want 18/6 light, 65–70% humidity and 20–25 °C (68–77 °F), no feed until the third set of true leaves.
Because the stretch is only 1.2×, the indica selection can be vegged until it nearly fills the intended footprint. A plant flipped at 60 cm finishes near 75; at 90 cm, around 110. In a 1.5 m tent, six to eight weeks of veg is comfortable; outdoors the plant stays under 1.6 m without intervention. Light 18/6, humidity 50–60%, temperature 20–28 °C (68–82 °F), nitrogen-leaning feed built up gradually. Top after the fourth node and use low-stress training to widen the plant — the natural habit is a tight Christmas tree, and opening it lets light reach the lower buds, which on this selection are worth harvesting.
The switch to 12/12 starts flowering within a week and the stretch is over in ten to twelve days. Temperatures of 22–26 °C (72–79 °F), humidity around 50%, feed shifting toward phosphorus and potassium. Darkness during the dark period must be complete.
Buds set early and thicken quickly into dense clubs; the trichome coat appears around week five. The selection’s resistance is good but not absolute. Night temperatures 5–8 °C below day deepen resin and, in the last two weeks, bring out purple tones in some phenotypes. Feed tapers from week six with plain water for the final seven to ten days. The aroma peaks from week five and a carbon filter is non-negotiable. Harvest falls at day 50–58 — a week or two ahead of the classic.
| Parameter | Indoor | Outdoor |
|---|---|---|
| Light | 18/6 veg, 12/12 flower; LED or HPS | Full sun; tolerates partial shade |
| Veg before flip | 6–8 weeks; flip at 60–90 cm | Natural; May to August |
| Stretch after flip | 1.2× | 1.3× in full sun |
| Height | 80–120 cm; fits a 1.2 m tent | 120–160 cm; balcony-friendly |
| Late-flower humidity | 35–40% — the key control | Harvest before autumn rain; check colas |
| Yield | 450–520 g/m² | 450–550 g per plant |
| Timeline | 15–18 weeks | Plant May, harvest late September–early October |
| Climate fit | Any | Cool temperate to continental; finishes before frost at 50°+ latitude |
| Main risks | Botrytis in dense colas, light leaks | Rain in the final two weeks |
Trichomes are checked from day 48. Mostly cloudy with 10% amber, around day 50–54, gives the brightest version of the effect; 20–30% amber, around day 56–58, gives the heavy, sleep-leaning version most reviewers prefer. Dense buds dry more slowly: branches hang in the dark at 15–20 °C (60–68 °F) and 55–60% humidity for twelve to sixteen days, checked by snapping a small stem, and large colas can be split lengthwise to prevent moisture pockets. Jars filled three-quarters, burped daily for two weeks then weekly, for a four-week cure.
The table takes common tent heights, subtracts 30 cm for pot and light clearance, and divides by the stretch of each White Widow line — 1.2× for the indica selection, 1.3× for the classic, 1.5× for the sativa selection — to give the tallest plant that can be flipped and still fit.

The indica selection is sold as feminized photoperiod, as an autoflower (the only selection in the family with its own auto, because ruderalis and indica traits reinforce rather than fight each other), and as regular seed for breeders. The balanced classic and the sativa selection cover the rest of the spectrum. A CBD 1:1 White Widow exists for growers who want a mild plant.

Growers with a tent under 1.5 m, a balcony or a short outdoor season; growers in cool northern or continental climates who need a plant finished by late September; users who want White Widow for the evening or for sleep; and anyone running Sea of Green. Growers in humid regions with no humidity control, or who want a daytime flower, are better served by the classic or the sativa selection. The indica packs are in the order section.

Most breeders’ White Widow leans at least slightly indica, but few state a ratio and fewer select for it. The table reports published figures and the seed bank’s own observations of growth habit, without ranking.
| Breeder | Version | Stated ratio | THC | Flowering | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dutch Passion | White Widow (Classic F1) | “Indica dominant hybrid” | 22–26% | 8–9 weeks | Compact, all-white buds; the stock this selection derives from |
| Growers Choice | White Widow feminized | 60% indica / 40% sativa | 25% claimed | 55–65 days | US-bred; medium height |
| Seed Supreme | White Widow Feminized | “Slightly indica-leaning” | 20–30% claimed | 8–10 weeks | Describes a tall plant despite the lean |
| ILGM | White Widow feminized | “Indica dominant” | 20% | 8–9 weeks | Beginner-oriented |
| Green House Seeds | White Rhino (WW × indica) | Indica-dominant | 20%+ | 8–9 weeks | A cross, not a selection; heavier and more sedative |
| Kush Indica Seeds | White Widow indica selection | 70/30 indica | 21–25% lab-tested | 7–8 weeks | Dutch Passion-derived; 4 generations selected on height, density, finish and effect |
The in-house selection is the shortest and fastest-finishing White Widow in the table that is still a White Widow rather than a cross. Growers who want a heavier, more sedative plant with the strain in it should look at White Rhino or White Russian; those who want the balanced original, Dutch Passion or Paradise.

Germination: 90% on every pack, with free replacements if fewer than nine seeds in ten sprout using the paper-towel method in the guide and support is contacted within 30 days of delivery. Phenotype: in the feminized line, nine plants in ten show the indica-leaning habit — short internodes, 1.2× stretch, finish by day 58; an occasional balanced plant is normal and not a defect. The regular line is deliberately broader. Botrytis in late flower is an environmental loss and is not covered, which is why the guide is specific about humidity.

Seeds are sold as collectible genetic material; an ungerminated seed contains no meaningful THC. In the United States cannabis seeds are hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill, as the DEA confirmed in January 2022; in many countries seed possession is legal while cultivation is regulated separately.
Laws on germination vary by country, state and province and change often. A short plant is still a plant wherever plants are counted. Buyers must check local rules before germinating. Nothing here is legal advice.
Sales are restricted to adults of legal age in their jurisdiction (18 or 21). Effect descriptions are user reports, not evaluated by any medical regulator. Indica-leaning flower at 21–25% THC is sedating at higher doses; it should not be combined with driving, machinery or alcohol, and anyone with a health condition should seek professional advice.

Lars H. · Indica fem, 10 seeds · Garden, Denmark · September 2026
After my sativa-selection plants nearly missed the frost last year, this one was done on 24 September at 56° north. 470 g on the best plant, buds like golf balls. The evening effect is exactly what I grow for.
Anja W. · Indica fem, 5 seeds · 1.2 m tent, Netherlands · May 2026
Flipped at 70 cm, finished at 85 — fits my short tent with room to spare. Day 55 harvest, 290 g from two plants. Ran a dehumidifier the last three weeks as the guide says; no rot.
R. Wallace · Indica auto, 25 seeds · SOG 1.2 m², Canada · July 2026
Sixteen plants, single colas, 20/4 light. 510 g dry at day 70 and every plant within three days of each other. The sleepiest Widow I’ve grown — perfect for what I wanted.
Omar K. · Indica fem, 10 seeds · Indoor, Spain · June 2026
Lost one cola to botrytis in week seven because I ignored the humidity note. The other plants were superb — dense, frosty, heavy. My fault; grow it dry.
Priya N. · Indica fem, 5 seeds · Indoor, Canada · April 2026
Four of five germinated, replacement sent within the week. The high starts like the classic and then just puts me on the sofa. Took it at 25% amber — the page is right about the window.
Greta H. · Indica regular, 25 seeds · Indoor, Germany · August 2026
Eleven females; eight short and dense, three looked like the balanced classic. Kept a short, purple-tinged one as a mother. Smells like hash in the jar.

Seven to eight weeks (50–58 days) after the switch to 12/12 — one to two weeks faster than the balanced classic. Outdoors it finishes late September to early October in the northern hemisphere, ahead of frost in most cool climates.
450–520 g/m² indoors — the highest per square meter in the family, because the dense buds are heavy for their size — and 450–550 g per plant outdoors. The autoflower gives 350–450 g/m².
Lab tests run 21–25% THC with CBD under 1%. The strength is at the top of the strain’s range; the difference from the classic is the calmer, heavier second hour.
The strain is a hybrid, and the balanced classic leans slightly indica at 60/40. This selection was bred from indica-leaning phenotypes to about 70% indica, with the South Indian parent’s density and relaxation to the fore.
Easier to fit and faster to finish, yes. The one extra care point is late-flower humidity: dense colas need 35–40% and strong airflow in the last three weeks to stay clear of botrytis.
The indica selection for small tents, cool climates and evening use; the classic for all-round use and humid rooms without dehumidification. The comparison table lists the differences.
Paper-towel method at 21–25 °C in the dark; taproot in one to five days; sow root-down 1 cm deep. This is the method required by the guarantee.
Germination is guaranteed at 90% with free replacements. In the feminized line about nine plants in ten show the indica-leaning habit; the regular line is broader by design. Terms are in the order section.

Yes — myrcene leads, so the aroma is deeper, earthier and more hash-like than the classic’s, with pepper underneath and less pine. It is as strong from week four of flower and the dense buds hold scent in the jar; a carbon filter is needed indoors.
Indoors with a dehumidifier, yes. Outdoors in regions with wet Septembers the dense colas are at risk; the balanced classic or the sativa selection, with airier buds, is the safer choice there.
Feminized from $11.80 per seed in a 5-pack down to $5.99 in a 100-pack; autoflower from $13.00; regular from $4.90 per seed in a 10-pack. Bonus seeds are added to every order.

Cannabinoid and yield figures on this page are laboratory ranges from the seed bank’s own batches or observed ranges from cultivation records, not guarantees for any individual grow. Where a figure could not be verified, a range is given rather than a single number.
